CROSS-CULTURAL RESEARCH
It is often the practice of psychological researchers
to have some method to quantify what they are
doing. With quantification, subsequent research can
add, change, and correct the data. Questionnaires,
inventories, and surveys are frequently used to obtain
data. The researcher has to encode what is collected.
To control for some of the problems entailed in
the development, adaptation, administration, docu-
mentation, scoring, and interpretation of data, the
Ethnic Research———201International Test Commission (ITC) has provided
guidelines for adapting psychological and educational
tests for different linguistic and cultural groups. The
ITC consists of national psychological associations,
test commissions, and publishers and organizations
involved in the proper development, evaluation, and
uses of educational and psychological instruments.
Their guidelines are divided into four categories: con-
text; test development and adaptation; administration;
and documentation/score interpretations
