Social Embodiment Effects Four types of embodiment effects have been reported in the social psychology literatures: (1) perceived social stimuli produce bodily states; (2) perceiving bodily states in others produces bodily mimicry in the self; (3) bodily states in the self produce affective states; and (4) the compatibility of bodily and cognitive states modulates performance effectiveness. We do not review the literatures for these effects exhaustively. Insteadwe simply present examples to illustrate the phenomena and motivate theoretical integration later.
